This is a brief introduction into Agriops as well as a history of where we come from.
AGRIOPS TODAY:
AGRIOPS is determined to protect South Africa's farming communities without bias or prejudice of any kind. We promise to deliver:
protection of life and property with professional and experienced farm protection entities an intelligence driven, pro-active mobile armed presence on a continual basis
constant effective radio communications to mobile units ensuring timeous response to any potential threat. Mobile units are able to support each other, thereby ensuring maximum concentration of effective response.
competitive analysis of the landscape - there are many private security companies offering a farm protection service to the community without the proven experience and referable track record of Agriops.
a management team with the pertinent skills and PSIRA qualified armed security personnel with oversight from an accredited trainer/assessor to ensure continual cutting edge delivery of service.
Grouping of the target audience through their existing structures such as Farmers unions and or associations. Co-opting opinion formers and leading figures within the community to encourage their fellows to join the initiative. The operation is to be fully compliant in terms of the statutes governing the activities within the laws of the Republic of South Africa, with emphasis on the FCA and OHS acts respectively. Agriops is an owner managed and independent service provider aiming at the total security of the farming community in the Overberg
AGRIOPS HISTORY:
Agriops was developed in 1999 to address the security situation facing the Farmers in the sugar industry in KZN.
The Agriops concept was embraced by famers unions in the north and south as well as the giant Tongaat Hulett group agricultural division.
From one unit serving the Darnall farmer’s Agriops quickly realised four distinct areas ending up in the south serving the Dumisa farmers, Maidstone and an area which determined a local name iHawu Lethu.
We have established an enviable position of trust in terms of all of the community – commercial
farmers – small and medium growers as well as permanent and migrant labour.
A professional tightly run operation serving the community as a whole has resulted in inter alia:
No land invasions or “creeping” in the period in question.
Notable success in respect of the arrest and conviction of criminals in cases of theft relating to herbicides, irrigation pipes, Batteries, vehicles and haulage chains.
Notable lowering of incidences of crime in focus areas, due to a hands on visual policing approach.
Recovery of stolen goods.
Arrests of perpetrators
